Ah, sigh, the necessary and tortuous need for us ladies to take care of our bodies...
Today was an event for me - I ventured into the world of breast cancer detection, prevention, etc., to endure something slightly traumatizing yet necessary. If you know me, you may be saying, "Wait, you're young yet. Why do this now?" But reasons aside, I feel the need to share the experience with those of you still waiting until the "right" time. If not to allay some fears but to perhaps lend some humor to an otherwise unpleasant situation.
The facility was friendly, all ladies, gentle and kind. The procedure itself was fast (thank G-d) and moderately painful - I mean, HELLO, we're allowing someone to smash our breasts ON PURPOSE! Bottom line is, it's a 7-minute deal, plain and simple. It's a loving thing to do for ourselves. It's insurance that we don't end up living with something potentially fatal because we simply don't have the time. I feel better for it, safer for it, and grateful to know that I've done my part in staying healthy.
