When "thank-you" simply isn't enough

In July, when I got a call from my father's wife, offering to send Jakob and me to Israel, I knew in my GUT that there was going to be fall-out. Why? Because well, when one is dealing with evil, fall-out is inevitable. I profusely thanked this woman, as well as my father, despite emphatic insistence to his lack of involvement (he doesn't remember). To be frank,I never felt that "thank-you" was enough, but really, how does one thank someone for a gift like that? I was humble, grateful, etc, yet, still, mattered, it did not. My personal favorite was "Oh, of course, Sarit, it was my pleasure. It was all my idea. Your dad had nothing to do with it." Well, riddle me this, kiddies, how could that be when he gives her an allowance tantamount to minimum wage on steroids every month? Of course he had something to do with it. And of course I thanked him.

So...,here's what I've learned: When one deals with folks who care nothing for sentiment, discard words as though they are less than the trash in their wastebaskets and worship the almighty dollar, nothing is ever good enough.

Time to fly.....
